British tourists were done prisioners trying to register bogus theft of luggage

The two lawyers said that were assaulted between Foz do Iguaçu and Rio

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - The English friends Shanti Simone Andrews and Rebecca Claire Turner, who embarked on a journey of adventure to more than 30 countries, were done prisioners in the Polinter de Mesquita, in Baixada Fluminense.

The young people, only 23 years old, were arrested on Sunday night, after providing a false complaint of theft at the Police Station Special Services Tourist, in Leblon. They said the luggage had been stolen on a bus, on the trip from Foz do Iguaçu to Rio de Janeiro. The young people were indicted by estelionato, with penalty of 1 to 5 years imprisonment.

Policiais, suspicious of apparent calm of them and the delay to record the occurrence of theft, went to the Stone of a Beach Hostel, in Copacabana, where they were hosted and found all the belongings that had supposedly been stolen.

According to the delegate in charge of the case, Fernando Vila Pouca de Sousa, the tourists wanted to get the insurance of baggage, valued at almost US$ 4 mil. "It is the second coup, in two months, that disconnected," revealed the delegate.

The English young's lawyer said that all is just a misunderstanding and that they were in fact stolen, but was confused at the time to report accurately the goods. "We ask them to free preventive", said Sergio Ricardo da Rocha Pita.
